What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing is the utilization of various sources and mediums such as mobile devices, the world wide web (Internet), search engines and social media to reach end consumers.

We currently live in a world that is becoming more and more digital as information and transactions are moving onto the internet and hence the importance of digital marketing as more consumers are going online, businesses should engage in digital marketing efforts to engage these consumers.

Digital marketing works differently as compared to traditional marketing as consumers know what they want, and they go on the internet to try and find that.

The goal of digital marketing is how can we reach out to the right group of consumers who are interested in what you are selling and be able to find and browse your website.

What did Supermec do when they wanted more traffic and leads to their website?

In 2018, Supermec had a website up and running but they wanted to increase the relevant website traffic with the end goal of being able to get more leads/sales.

Supermec decided to actively engage in content marketing as well as SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Let’s take a look at the results:

If we compare the period from Nov 1st – Nov 30th 2019 (Digital marketing implemented) vs Nov 1st – Nov 30th 2018 (No digital marketing done)

We see more than a three-fold increase with the number of “Users”, “New Users” and “Sessions” over the same period where we did not do any digital marketing.

The number of website pageviews has also more than doubled from 5,363 to 12,710.

We also received an increase in the number of leads that came from the website via our contact us page and this has in turn lead to an increase of sales for the company.

Due to the content marketing and SEO we have done as well on our blog, we rank on the 1st page of Google for some of the keywords that are relevant to our industry.

Ranking on the 1st page of Google is important as people normally do not click onto the 2nd page of the search results page and thus your website/brand is given greater awareness as well as authority.

We see no disadvantages in digital marketing and thus am committed to always improving our website and content via various digital marketing activities.

Summary

From the above, we can see that engaging in digital marketing techniques such as SEO and content marketing brought increased website traffic and leads to the Supermec website. This also translated into increased sales of our products as well as increased brand awareness in the digital space.
