On 25 September 2021, the 50th milestone LNG cargo was loaded onto the Seri Cemara LNG carrier for shipment to Taiwan. MISC Berhad operates the vessel.

Therefore, Petronas marks another milestone in floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG)* technologies. The company mentioned this showcases the viability of offshore gas production with FLNG solutions.

The first FLNG cargo came from the Kanowit gas field, offshore Sarawak in 2017.

Additionally, the PFLNG Satu was the first FLNG facility to produce LNG from two remote gas fields. This occurred when it relocated from the Kanowit gas field to its current location at the Kebabangan gas field, offshore Sabah in 2019.

Since 2017, the FLNG has produced and exported nearly 3.18 million tonnes of LNG from the Kebabangan and Kanowit gas fields.

The PFLNG Satu is designed to operate at water depths of up to 200 meters with a production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year.

Currently, Petronas is the only global energy company in the world that owns and operates two FLNG facilities. These are PFLNG Satu and PFLNG Dua.

Finally, the company is expecting the third unit named PFLNG Tiga in the coming years.
