On August 21, 2025 Aker BP announced a major oil discovery in its Omega Alfa exploration campaign in the Norwegian North Sea, estimated to hold between 96 and 134 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik hailed it as one of Norway's largest commercial discoveries in a decade and a significant step towards the ambition of producing over one billion barrels from the Yggdrasil area.
