On September 24, 2025 Suriname's new government, led by President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, is negotiating to refinance its dollar bonds and secure a new IMF program to manage its debt burden until oil revenues begin in 2028. The President aims to defer debt payments, avoid past austerity measures, and narrow the current budget deficit through spending constraints and improved tax collection, without imposing further hardship on the public.
The economy is poised for a major transformation, with a projected more than ten-fold growth surge once TotalEnergies SE begins oil production from significant reserves. To prepare, the government plans to diversify into agriculture and tourism, sell carbon credits, and collaborate with neighboring Guyana. These efforts are expected to create thousands of steady jobs, leveraging the anticipated oil boom to build a more resilient economy.

On September 24, 2025 Enverus launched a new product, Global Research, to extend its upstream intelligence to international oil and gas markets. The inaugural report focuses on Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale play, noting its high productivity but revealing that M&A valuations are significantly discounted compared to similar U.S. assets. Deals imply a cost of about $1 million per undeveloped location, far below the $4 million seen in the U.S., a disparity expected to attract North American operators.
The report also highlights a previously underreported 24% decline in well productivity since 2021, a trend uncovered using Enverus PRISM® that could influence future development strategies. According to Andy McConn, Director of Enverus Intelligence® Research, the company aims to replicate its North American success by leveraging global data and analyst expertise. The new Global Research product is designed to provide stakeholders with precise, AI-ready intelligence to optimize portfolio strategy and investment decisions worldwide.

On September 23, 2025, Condor Energies initiated a multi-well drilling campaign in Uzbekistan to expand its natural gas production and reserves. The program will commence with a vertical exploration well, scheduled for completion around October 2025, to assess multiple formations. The results will then guide a subsequent 12-well horizontal drilling program, with each well anticipated to produce 13–20 MMcf/d.
To support this activity, the company has integrated reprocessed 3D seismic data, identifying a total of 18 potential drilling targets that could extend operations beyond 2026. Condor is also planning a field compression project for 2026, which engineering studies suggest could boost base production by 25% to 55%. Furthermore, discussions are underway to secure a second drilling rig to accelerate the development timeline.
Beyond its operations in Uzbekistan, Condor is concurrently advancing a modular LNG project in Kazakhstan, with the first plant's fabrication on track for late 2025 and production expected by Q2 2026. The Uzbek drilling is conducted under a Production Enhancement Contract where Condor holds a 51% working interest. The company's current production in Uzbekistan has remained steady, with growth anticipated from the new wells and compression facilities.
