On October 15, 2025 In a significant move to advance the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project in the Caspian Sea, the bp-led consortium has awarded three major offshore contracts worth around $700 million to a Saipem and BOS Shelf joint venture. This marks a major step in bp's plan to expand gas recovery from the giant Shah Deniz field. The scope of work encompasses the transportation and installation of a new 19,000-tonne compression platform and approximately 26 km of subsea pipelines.

The $2.9 billion SDC project is designed to access low-pressure gas reserves and maximize recovery. Fabrication will utilise local capacity at the Baku Deep Water Jacket Factory, with offshore installation using Azerbaijani vessels scheduled to begin in 2026. Upon its targeted completion in 2029, the new electrically powered platform is expected to enable an estimated 50 billion cubic meters of additional gas and 25 million barrels of condensate for export.

On October 15, 2025 Shell and its joint venture partner Sunlink Energies reached a final investment decision (FID) on the HI gas project offshore Nigeria. This $2 billion development, located about 50 km off the coast, will supply 350 MMscf/d of gas to the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion and is expected to start production before the end of the decade.

The project involves a wellhead platform, a pipeline to shore, and a gas processing facility. It underscores Shell's continued commitment to Nigeria's energy sector and aligns with its strategy to grow its global LNG portfolio, following recent investments in the Bonga deepwater field.

On October 15, 2025, Global energy and marine consultancy ABL was awarded a new contract by India’s ONGC to oversee rig moving operations in Indian waters from September 2025 to May 2026. ABL will act as the marine warranty surveyor for an estimated 25 ONGC rig moves and as tow master for 70 additional third-party operations, which includes relocating 34 rigs ahead of the 2026 monsoon season.

This agreement builds on ABL's long-standing collaboration with ONGC, leveraging its multi-disciplined team and in-house engineering support to de-risk operations. The contract reinforces ABL's position as a leading provider of marine assurance services, following its support for over 1,500 global rig moves in 2024.
