On May 28, 2025 BW Offshore signed an agreement to acquire the FPSO Nganhurra, securing a high-quality production unit amid a tightening market for redeployable FPSOs. The transaction involves a limited upfront payment, with additional consideration dependent on the successful redeployment of the unit before June 2027. This acquisition aligns with BW Offshore’s strategy to deliver timely and competitive redeployment solutions, with the company anticipating emerging project opportunities over the coming years.

Built in 2006, the FPSO Nganhurra has a production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day and storage capacity of 900,000 barrels. It previously operated offshore Western Australia until 2018 and is currently laid up in Malaysia. Designed with a flexible mooring system for varied offshore conditions, the unit offers operational adaptability and cost efficiency. CEO Marco Beenen emphasized the strategic value of the acquisition, noting its minimal lay-up costs and limited downside risk from recycling, thereby supporting prudent capital management while evaluating redeployment options.

terradepth-agreement

On May 28, 2025, Terradepth, a leading Ocean Data as a Service® (ODaaS) provider, secured a five-year Master Services Agreement with a major offshore energy company to deliver autonomous hydrographic survey and data services. The first project under this agreement will support a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in the Asia Pacific region. By leveraging its ODaaS solution—from robotic autonomous subsea data collection to processed data delivery via the Absolute Ocean® platform—Terradepth significantly reduces the time and cost of traditional hydrographic surveys.

The company's vertically integrated approach enables secure, cloud-native data visualization and management, allowing stakeholders to access and interpret bathymetric data efficiently for safe and sustainable operations. Terradepth COO Kris Rydberg emphasized that this engagement affirms the company’s value proposition: delivering a complete, scalable solution that addresses key challenges in subsea operations—cost, speed, access, and repeatability—across sectors such as offshore energy, subsea fiber, and electric cable infrastructure.

signalfire-methane-emissions-monitoring

On May 28, 2025 SignalFire launched the AirQ Scout, a rugged methane emissions monitoring device built for harsh environments, utilizing a long-range 900 MHz wireless platform. Designed to integrate seamlessly with SignalFire’s 900 MHz gateway, the AirQ Scout features MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology for accurate methane detection without requiring external power. The initial version detects methane concentrations from 50 ppm to 1,000,000 ppm and can identify emissions as low as 2 SCFH from up to 30 feet away. With a communication range of up to 0.5 miles and over 15 years of sensor life, the device offers wide-area coverage and durability in extreme conditions (-40 to 75°C and up to 100% humidity). It is engineered for Class 1, Division 1 Intrinsically Safe certification and is ideal for remote, industrial environments.

Equipped with a 72A/h battery pack, the AirQ Scout can operate for up to three years depending on the sensing mode. It delivers constant self-diagnostics and transmits detailed environmental data including PPM, LEL, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity metrics. Users can integrate the device into existing SCADA systems or monitor it via the SignalFire Cloud using the RANGER900, offering real-time data, alerts, and reports. For enhanced performance in variable wind conditions, multiple units can be deployed strategically. Looking ahead, SignalFire plans to expand the AirQ Scout’s capabilities with additional sensors for gases such as H2S and flammables, further enhancing its utility in greenhouse gas and air quality monitoring applications.
